How to be a Stuntman, Boring Vlogs, Ollerup Big moves and More

Week of Parkour 2 [Feb 20, 2018]! This week we have some new segments, check them out below.

Daniel: “Put the zoom mic on the table this week and didn’t realize just how much I loved to tap the table. One day, I’ll achieve good audio…”

The first video of the week is Alex Schauer’s ‘How to be a stuntman.’ It’s a really funny video and a nice, refreshing change from the videos that normally hit the parkour scene. We always look forward to seeing what Schauer will produce next, as there’s always something different and interesting or funny.

Next, we have the vlog of the week which is Tim Champion’s video appropriately named The VLOG. It is a very serious and typical type of vlog. Champion purposely talks in a monotone way as he talks about the various things needed to make a good vlog including a variety of shots. He recently won an APC skill which means he’s basically at the top of the game at the moment and is killing it. You should definitely check him out.

Then we have, Luke Albrecht, who has been injured for a while but he’s coming back. ‘In this together’ is a very typical, Instagram parkour video but does it in a different way to everybody else. The video is different because it’s a long form edit, which basically shows Luke for long enough so that you understand that all the little movements he does are as important as the big movements. He also features his friends and students in a way to show that his movement is becoming their movement and theirs his. It displays both the community and the area, making you care about the people within the video and how they reoccur and get better.

Of course, we can’t forget the Ollerup Jam! And the Motus Project dropped a video called, ‘Power Moves Only.’  The whole video is in black and white, which gives it an interesting effect and allows you to focus solely on the movement. Displaying the Motus athletes doing a bunch of awesome power moves, which are huge, intensive and non-stop. They’ve also got Ed Scott and Joel Larsson in the video also moving with the Motus boys. You see Ed Scott doing a gnarly side-flip pre that looked flawless and effortless.

The team of the week has to be Ashigaru, for their non-stop producing and good content consistently. Favourite video from them this week was: Munich Red City Shaolin Training. It’s weird, it’s wacky, it’s old school. there are some flips down holes, that Daniel wouldn’t go in. Their videos have a bit of style on and you can tell it’s just a normal training session for them. Definitely a team you should check out and keep up with.

The Four mini-movements from this week are:

  1. Shifer, doing a pre to double side.
  2. Potti_photoes who was showcased by Storm Freerun, and does loads of technical movements inside a gym. It’s lovely to watch.
  3. Nicholas Ortiz, doing another gnarly descent.
  4. George McGowan, doing a double side, to side, to backfall, to double backfall. It’s just epic.

Finally, this week Storm Freerun have announced a parkour competition in the UK. Daniel’s bet: It’s in Wales. His reasoning is that Kie Willis was recently in

Fluidity Freerun Academy, probably wrong but he reckon’s it’ll be in Fluidity. They’ve set the date as 13th April 2018. They haven’t announced the location. The two divisions are speed and skill.
