Licking walls, Hating on winter, American carparkour and More!

For this Week of Parkour [28th February 2018]  Daniel was in Grenoble, France having a well-deserved rest as well as doing some parkour of course.

Anyway, first up on Week of Parkour, we have Storm Freerun’s video ‘Stick or Lick.’ Hopefully, this is a prequel, for more fun series to come. Their old series such as funny shoes were some of our favourite parkour series to watch week on week and kept us coming back for more. ‘Stick or Lick’ raises the stakes in a non-conventional way. The use of licking the wall for punishment is hilarious to watch and ‘by the end you expect them to be really into licking walls.’ The first episode contains Phosky, Kie Willis, and Joseph Henderson. Kie Willis continues to surprise with his movement and Phosky really helps raise the bar of the challenges. The jumps they commit to are hard enough as it is, so sticking them really is a testament to their control and power. We are looking forward to seeing more, so keep them coming, Storm Freerun.

Second, we got a new video from Ampisound called, ‘Parkour and Bullsh!t.’ Ampisound is committing to one video a month and so far they’ve been really clean edits. The style of music really feels like its harking back to Professor Longhair and Big Chief. In this video, Ampisound is featuring a large range of athletes. The one downside to the video is that it feels like they are featuring old footage. The athletes have already posted some of this footage on their social media sites, so it is as if we are watching the same stuff again. However, with time, this problem may disappear as he keeps making monthly videos and keeps having to find new content.

Next up, is Nicholas Ortiz, with his video, ‘Falling is fun.’  We featured him last time but he’s dropped the proper video of his descent line along with a lot of other movements. In this video, you see Nate Weston do a huge front gap and Brandon Douglass doing a technically hard drop pre. All in all, it’s enlightening to see the American roof scene start to develop around car parks and the descent lines being pushed by Nicholas Ortiz.

To top off this week’s big videos we have ‘Fuck Winter’ by Dominic Di Tommaso. His blog series has various bits of randomness within it as well as some great stuff. This video has all the good stuff, with a ton of great movement and beautiful drone shots. Shaun Wood, is also featured and it is good to see him getting back in the game.

The mini-movements of this week show Jared Nahulu, doing a flowy line and some beautiful technical movement.  Danny Pierce, doing an elbow palm-flip that looks disgusting but is awesome. Travis Verkaik, showing his all-around game when it comes to flips. Nate Weston, doing a punch loser, to re-grab, which is insane but beautiful. Then we got huge strides from Philly Doyle which can be seen on the Motus Project and Storm Freerun’s new video. Finally, we have Vladimir Polianskii doing some unusual lines.

For the team of the week, we have Muv Magazine. Their commitment to informing the parkour community is big and they are starting a new series called, ‘People of Parkour.’ With their first episode having already dropped with Brian Prince, showing his love for both parkour and graphic art. It feels like a mini, good quality documentary and it’s lovely to see how different worlds collide and how they benefit each other.
